March 2, 1897 Inaugural Ball dance program detailing the events of the McKinley-Hobart presidential ball. The front of the program portrays an eagle, American flag and a laurel with an embossed portrait of William McKinley in gold. The cover text reads: "McKINLEY HOBART / INAUGURAL / BALL / The Bailey, Banks & Biddle Co., Phila."
The back cover of the program displays a similar embossed portrait of Garret A. Hobart, McKinley's vice president.
A white cord with a tassel at the end is strung through the top center of the program. The twelve-page booklet lists members of the inaugural committee, the schedule of events, a list of dances and the bill of fare. The menu for the event included: raw oysters in ice, consomme in cups, broiled oysters, oysters a la poulette, chicken cutlets, sweetbread patties, terrapin Philadelphia style, chicken salad, crab salad and lobster salad, tongue, Smithfield ham, game patties, boned turkey, pate de foie gras, assorted sandwiches, vanilla or chocolate ice cream, lemon ice, Roman punch, assorted cakes, fruit, Johannis water and coffee.

This Inaugural Ball dance program was purchased by the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board in June, 2016.
The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board took over the care of the Statehouse and its collections in 1988.
