Provenance In the early 1980s, the Ohio Historical Society transferred six boxes of "soldier ballots" and supporting "tally sheets" to the Ohio Secretary of State where they were stored in the office of Margaret "Peg" Rosenfield. In 1991, when a new party took over the Secretary of State's office, the ballots were to be disposed of. Mrs. Rosenfield rescued a few and later donated some to the Franklin County Board of Elections, some to the Smithsonian Institute and then some to the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board in 2013.

The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board took over the care of the Statehouse and its collections in 1988.
