Jacob Henry Miller was born October 3, 1865 in Licking County, Ohio. Miller was a farmer, teacher, lawyer, minister and member of the Ohio Senate. He received his education at Bethany College, Ohio Northern University, and Pettit College of Law. A democrat, Miller served one term in the Ohio Senate between 1917-1919, and was Senate President Pro Tempore during his term. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta and a supporter of women's suffrage and prohibition. Miller died January 5, 1919 and was buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newark, Ohio. |

Robert Miller of Michigan donated this photograph to the Ohio Statehouse Museum as part of a collection of items related to his grandfather, J. Henry Miller of Newark, Ohio. The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board took over the care of the Statehouse and its collections in 1988. |
