On the right-hand side is the text: "Greetings from / OHIO [image of a cardinal and buckeyes] / The Buckeye State". On the back of the postcard at bottom left is written: "CAPITAL: Columbus. AREA: 41,222 sq. mi. POPULATION: 9,706,397. / FLOWER: Scarlet Carnation. BIRD: Cardinal. TREE: Ohio Buckeye. / 22-15 DT-66527-C" There is a nine-cent postage stamp with an image of the dome of the U.S. capitol and "RIGHT OF PEOPLE PEACEFULLY TO ASSEMBLE / USA / 9c". |

Provenance |
M.M. Dornbirer, of San Diego, California, found this collection while helping with an estate in that city. Dornbirer is a native Ohioan and believed the items should be returned to Columbus and chose to ship the collection to the Ohio Statehouse. The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board took over the care of the Statehouse and its collections in 1988. |
