Notes |
Named to honor President Andrew Jackson and his military career, Jackson Day Banquets are held annually across much of the country on January 8--the anniversary of the end of the Battle of New Orleans--the final major battle of the War of 1812. Andrew Jackson has traditionally been considered the founder of the Democratic Party. This ticket is from the January 8, 1936 banquet held in Cleveland, Ohio, during which time Franklin D. Roosevelt was the U.S. president. |

Workers found this ticket during the renovation of the Statehouse in the 1990s. The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board took over the care of the Statehouse and its collections in 1988. |
