Description |
White plate has a decorative gold band and a scalloped edge. At the top of the plate are red images of a cardinal and carnations (state symbols) and the words: "Ohio / MOTHER OF PRESIDENTS" There are sites from across the state around the plate: "WRIGHT FIELD - DAYTON / ART MUSEUM - CLEVELAND / AKRON / WRIGHT BROS / MONUMENT / CINCINNATI - SKYLINE / THOS. A EDISON BIRTHPLACE / BUCKEYE LAKE / PUT-IN-BAY / NATIONAL / MONUMENT" The back of the plate has two holes with a gold thread for hanging and is marked "4T2472". |

Provenance |
M.M. Dornbirer, of San Diego, California, found this collection while helping with an estate in that city. Dornbirer is a native Ohioan and believed the items should be returned to Columbus and chose to ship the collection to the Ohio Statehouse. The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board took over the care of the Statehouse and its collections in 1988. |
