Pike County's John Lewis Caldwell was a member of the Ohio Congressional Constitution Committee of 1873-1874. Mr. Pendleton is Cincinnati's George Hunt Pendleton who was an Ohio state senator (1854-1856), a U.S. Representative from Ohio (1857-1865) the Democratic candidate for Ohio governor in 1869, and a U.S. Senator (1879-1885). |

Lucy Caldwell donated a collection of items that had belonged to her grandfather, John Lewis Caldwell, who was a member of the Ohio Congressional Constitution Committee of 1873-1874. The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board took over the care of the Statehouse and its collections in 1988. |
