Newly elected Republican Governor Bob Taft believed that learning to read early in elementary school was the key to a good education. His campaign prompted hundreds of people to serve as volunteer reading tutors in Ohio schools. |

Bill Cohen, a long-time Ohio Statehouse News Bureau reporter, donated a collection of political memorabilia and ephemera to the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board in 2012. The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board took over the care of the Statehouse and its collections in 1988. |
